Amédée Rolland
1829 – 1868
A journalist and Parisian author, Amédée Rolland wrote numerous comical plays and vaudevilles that met with success, amongst which Le Mariage de Vadé, staged at the Odeon in 1862. The same year, he decides to gather his friends (authors and artists) at his house and opens the Erôtikon Theatron in the Rue de la Santé (Paris). It was solemnly inaugurated in the presence of authors such as Alphonse Daudet and Paul Féval, and of the composer Georges Bizet.
Amédée Rolland is also known for his plays Voltaire au foyer performed at the Comédie-Française on March 16 1864, and Les Turlutaines, a comical vaudeville in 5 acts (1866).
