Irene Vecchia trained at the Scuola della Guarattelle directed by Bruno Leone. She began working with glove puppets in 2000 and has written shows that she has performed in Italy and abroad. She designs and makes her own puppets. She published Un caso cromosomico with Gyula Molnàr, who like Bruno Leone provided ideas for the play La luna e Pulcinella. Since 2019, together with Bruno Leone, she has managed the work of Casa Guarattelle "Nunzio Zampella", a theater in the center of Naples dedicated to "guarattelle" and their development in the contemporary puppet theater. Irene Vecchia has won several awards.
