1927 – 2016

After the Second World War, Gerd Focke trained as an actor in Leipzig. An accident forced him to give up this career to become a dramatist in various theaters in East Germany (GDR): Leipzig, Nordhausen, Halle. He was also a theatre critic, radio host, co-founder and director of the Fernsehtheater (theater for television) in Moritzburg. As a dramatist, he wrote plays for the theater, as well as detective dramas and children's plays for radio. He also wrote television dramas and three plays for puppets: Peter und der Roboter (1964), Bob fährt Bach Afrika (1967), Stachelbauch der Erste (1969).
