François Chaffin defines himself as an "author on stage". A writer who is close to the stage, he is also an actor, musician, singer and lighting designer.
Several puppet theater companies have staged his plays, including the Théâtre de la Licorne, with Fantastik Peplum (2012), and the company Ches Panses Vertes (Amiens) with Savez-vous que je peux sourire et tuer en même temps ? (2013), which brought together in a single show the two monologues À six heures, avec six sexes dans six sacs and Richard le Trois. For the company Ches Panses Vertes (Amiens), François Chaffin also wrote one of the texts of the show Les Retours de Don Quichotte (2006) directed by Sylvie Baillon and, on commission from the "Arts de la marionnette" theater of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, Ni bleu Ni blouse (2011). Sylvie Baillon also commissioned a text for the collaborative creation of the Option Arts de la Marionnette of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Amiens : Comme le chien revient à son vomissement, le sot retourne à sa folie.
