Salvatore Ferrajolo

1910 – 19..

Salvatore Ferraiolo was a glove puppeteer from Salerno, son of the guarattellaro Pasquale Ferraiolo. He began his career at the age of thirteen, accompanying his father and his brother Francesco on their tours. He worked with his brother until the Second World War. Like his father Pasquale, Salvatore wrote and directed plays with Pulcinella inspired by comedies performed by actors. However, unlike his father, he no longer performed the classical repertoire of the guarattelle
and did not use the very small puppet booth typical of this theater. He only used a larger structure allowing multiple animators to work together and several characters to appear on stage at the same time.
